‘Providing the excellent care that we would expect for our own families’

Join us and help us deliver this vision to more than 500,000 people across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch. The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (RBCH) includes Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Christchurch Hospital and a Sterile Services Department at Alderney Hospital.

Here on the south coast we enjoy a great place to live and a friendly and caring place to work. Every day, we value great team work, improving and adapting, communicating well and taking pride in what we do for patients.

This is an exciting time for our staff, following a recent review of healthcare services in Dorset which will see major changes to the way healthcare is provided in our region. As one of the two acute NHS providers in the east of the county, our services will be closely linked to those provided at Poole Hospital. We’re working in close collaboration to deliver excellent emergency and planned care over the two sites, for the people of east Dorset.

A full-time opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to work as a Band 6 in the Pre-operative Assessment department at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

Your role will be to undertake all aspects of pre-operative assessment for patients awaiting planned orthopaedic and general surgery and Interventional Radiology to ensure they are optimised for their scheduled surgery/procedure.

The nurse-led team aims to collaborate across all specialities to ensure quality of care and patient experience. You will enjoy working as part of a small multidisciplinary team, comprising of nurses, HCSW's, Anaesthetists and clerical staff, who will be able to provide training and support.

There are some exciting initiatives in progress in the department that will impact on future service delivery. This post would ideally suit a nurse keen to develop their professional profile - someone who recognises opportunities for improvements and who has an inquisitive mind and likes to work with a degree of autonomy. Delivering excellent patient care and experience is our driving force and in return we offer commitment to your personal development.

Provisional interview date will be 10th April 2019.

A 10 minute presentation discussing the following 'Surgical Preassessment - Why bother?' will be part of the interview
