Cardiothoracic Surgery – 5 South, Royal Papworth Hospital

Ward Sister– Band 7

Full time 37.5hrs/week

 

Royal Papworth Hospital is a specialist hospital providing a full range of adult services in cardiology, cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery and respiratory medicine and is the UK’s largest centre for heart and lung transplantation. This is an exciting time for you to come and join Papworth as we start to work in our new, state of the art facility on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative nurse with proven leadership capabilities.

Exciting new opportunity for additional posts as a result of increase capacity within ward areas

South promises to be an exciting and dynamic environment where no two days are the same! There will be a high volume and fast turnover of patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgical procedures. We are the only centre in the UK to care for patients undergoing Pulmonary Thrombo Endarterectomy (PTE) surgery. We care for patients requiring Complex surgery for advanced thoracic malignancies and lung volume reduction surgery asa well as those requiring on-going chest drain management.

You must be a team player who is well organised but flexible and able to deal with ever changing priorities. Tact and diplomacy are essential when dealing with patients and their relatives. You will be focussed on delivering high quality patient care and been keen to introduce innovative ways of working. This is a new position to strengthen the senior leadership on the ward and work alongside an existing ward sister. You must therefore be able to work in collaboration with other senior nurses to ensure the stability of the nursing team.
