Specialty Doctor in Cardiology




The Specialty of Cardiology are seeking to appoint a Specialty Doctor at Southmead Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust. The payscale will be MC46, which ranges from £39,060 to £72,840 depending on experience.


This post will form part of the established and growing Cardiology team, which has seen recent investment to increase Consultant Cardiologists, Specialty Doctors and Clinical Nurse Specialists.


The Cardiology Specialty covers a range of services including the Cardiology Inpatient Ward with Coronary Care Unit; Ambulatory Medical Unit for front door assessment; Outpatient Services in areas such as Rapid Access Chest Pain and Heart Failure; Catheterization Laboratory; Cardiac Investigations Unit; Cardiac Rehabilitation; Cardiology Research and Audit.


We are seeking to appoint an experienced Specialty Doctor to enhance our services. You will be based in our state of the art hospital, which allows flexibility and scope for you to develop within the department. The Trust could not be better placed to boost your career with its teaching status and strong links to the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England.


You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council, and have completed at least four years full-time post-graduate training [or equivalent in part-time posts]. Two years will need to have been spent in a relevant specialty training programme, and you will have experience and familiarity of UK hospital practices and systems, or equivalent experience and competencies in these areas. At least three years Cardiology experience and a strong interest in this field of Medicine is essential.


We are fortunate to be located to the north of a culturally rich city, with access to major routes, and various modes of transport including if you so wish, cycling, as Bristol was chosen as the first Cycling City in 2008 and has excellent facilities. Bristol City Centre is just 15 minutes away and has a fantastic array of shops, theatres and restaurants.
