Admiral Nurse

Base: The Cedars, Second Avenue, Grimsby DN33 1NU

An opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse with proven management knowledge and clinical experience in dementia care to join the Admiral Nurse Service in NAViGO CIC.

Admiral Nurses are nurses working in the community who work with and support family carers of people with dementia, and who offer consultancy to other professionals involved in providing care for people with dementia.

We are looking for a nurse who is passionate about dementia who has an interest in using this to continue the development of the Admiral Nurse service. This offers support to families and carers of people with dementia. You will carry an active caseload of carers with varying and potentially complex needs at different time points during their caring role, assisting them to develop more confidence and skills in caring, offering support during times of particular stress and transition which can be pre or post diagnosis, or beyond bereavement. You may work with several members of the family where there is more than one carer. Skills in counselling and group work are an advantage in this post. Some conference, teaching and presentation work is part of this role and the post-holder will either have or be prepared to develop these skills.

The post-holder will join the national network of Admiral Nurses and will benefit from the practice development framework for Admiral Nursing provided by Dementia UK. This offers practice development, facilitated clinical supervision, training and education opportunities and support with research, evaluation and audit.

The person appointed to the post of Admiral Nurse will be employed substantively by NAViGO CIC and line managed by the Admiral Nurse Clinical Team Leader.

For an informal conversation about the role please contact Admiral Nurse Clinical Lead Tracy Abbott, or Charlotte Harris, Business Development Officer. Charlotte.Harris@dementiauk.org 07876 442534

All positions are subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and medical clearance. Evidence of valid professional registration and appropriate DBS clearances will also be required where relevant. All posts will also be subject to successful completion of a 12 week probationary period.

Please note that all new employees joining NAViGO will be able to contribute to the NHS pension.

This post is classed as exempted for the purposes of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, even those convictions that are classed as spent must be declared on your application.

We will ensure that all applicants are contacted within 2 weeks of the closing date.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
