Clinical Rotational Pharmacist

37.5hours per week +/- EDC

Band 6 £28,050 - £36,644

Are you an ambitious and self-motivated pharmacist? Do you have passion to develop and excel in your pharmacy career? Our friendly and progressive pharmacy department is currently looking for an exceptional individual to join the team here at the Great Western Hospital.

The pharmacy department aspires to be forward thinking having already implemented cutting edge technology in the form of two robots that store and dispense medications and a fully integrated electronic prescribing system. By continuously striving to improve our ways of working and putting medicines optimisation at the heart of our clinical services, we aim to enhance every patient’s experience and care.

As a department, we offer a solid foundation for your career in hospital pharmacy. We actively encourage your development in the form of a post graduate clinical diploma as we want to see all our pharmacists succeed. We will do all we can to facilitate this by providing you with a senior mentor for support and allocated study time.

Our rotations will give you experience in the following areas:

  • Ward based clinical services (including surgery, cardiology, respiratory, gastroenterology, care of the elderly and paediatrics)
  • Patient Services
  • Medicines Information
  • Antimicrobial stewardship
  • Aseptic and Cancer Services (including TPN, radiopharmacy, haematology and oncology)

If you are newly qualified or never practiced in hospital pharmacy, we will provide you with an individually tailored 3-6 month induction period where we can build on your previously gained skills to make you a confident and knowledgeable hospital pharmacist.

We need you to be organised, have good time management skills, be self-motivated and enjoy the challenge of working within a busy hospital and pharmacy. We’ll make sure that you get the training and support and experience during your foundation years to become a high quality clinical pharmacist.

Current employees should be aware that this position is advertised as a GWH position and appointment ends any TUPE protection.

All candidates are required to pay for their own DBS check where applicable. Standard DBS check costs £26 and will be recovered from your first pay; Enhanced DBS check costs £44 and will be split and recovered over the first 2 pay.

Bank posts requiring a DBS check; payment must be made prior to commencing.

Apprentices are exempt from payment.
