An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paediatric Nurse, or Adult Nurse with SCPHN qualification, to join our small, friendly, multi-professional team in the safeguarding team here at Sheffield Children’s Hospital and to support the implementation of Safeguarding Supervision across acute services.

The successful candidate will be able to explore the diverse agenda of safeguarding children, young people and adults, including Perplexing Presentations / Fabricated and Induced Illness, Domestic Abuse, Prevent, FGM, CSE and supporting the Multi-Disciplinary Team working with highly complex cases.

Developing strong multi-agency links and partnerships through excellent communication skills is an essential aspect of the role. The successful applicant will need to have some post registration experience of working with the children and adults safeguarding agendas as part of their role, excellent communication skills, be able to manage complex problems and work to deadlines.

This challenging area of service provision within the Trust offers great opportunity for innovative working and scope for development and expansion of the service and in collaboration with safeguarding activity across the organisation and our partners across the region.

There will be an element of duties in addition to this role; leadership and management of the safeguarding nurse advisors, providing support for the safeguarding team work stream, participation in audits and delivery of training, cross cover for the CAU/SARC manager as required and participation in the SARC rota. There will also be occasions when deputising for the named nurse, at meetings and within the hospital, is required.

In line with other NHS Organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region a successful candidate appointed into a post within this Trust will be required to pay the DBS check fee (£49). This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
