ADMIRAL NURSE – Permanent Post

East Cheshire Hospice

HOURS: 22.5 per week – rotational Monday – Friday (must include Wednesday)

SALARY: Band 7

LOCATION AND GEOGRAPHY: Based at East Cheshire Hospice but may include work at other locations in the Cheshire East area.

REPORTING TO: Sunflower Centre Manager


This innovative and challenging new post has been developed by East Cheshire Hospice in collaboration with Dementia UK. The postholder will be working to transform End of Life experience and care for those diagnosed with dementia and those close to them. The Admiral Nurse will carry a patient caseload and be part of a multi-disciplinary team. The Admiral Nurse will be based in the Sunflower Outpatients Centre but will work across our services to facilitate evidenced based, high quality care.

To be successful you will need to demonstrate:

  • Experience in caring for patients with dementia
  • Excellent facilitation and mentoring skills
  • Infectious enthusiasm and passion for improving care
  • Experience in the implementation of quality initiatives to improve dementia care
  • Experience in acting as a role model and champion for all aspects of collaborative working that enable compassionate and competent care
  • A commitment to learning – both your own CPD and supporting the development of others
