Neonatal Ward Manager

Job Reference: 415-AA19-055ND

Northern Devon Healthcare Trust
£33,222 - £43,041 per annum pro rata

A full time Neonatal Ward Manager post, band 7, has become available in the Special Care Baby Unit, Barnstaple.

If you are an existing Ward Manager or a Senior Neonatal Nurse with the appropriate experience and skills, we would love you to join our team of trained neonatal nurses. We are committed and passionate about delivering evidence-based, individualised family centered care to all our babies.

We have a newly refurbished 8-cot Special Care Baby Unit, which is part of the South West Neonatal Network.

We provide level one care including short-term CPAP. We also stabilise babies prior to retrieval and transfer to a level 2-3 unit. We work closely with Maternity Services and the local Paediatric Ward to offer excellent seamless care.

Applicants who wish to manage our small, friendly team of professionals should be highly motivated, enthusiastic, adaptable, skilled and experienced in Neonatal Care.

The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management and clinical leadership of the Neonatal Unit. He/She will adopt a highly visible and accessible approach for the babies, their families/carers and staff. They will be expected to lead by example and empower staff in their personal and professional development, modernising and improving the care delivered.

This vacancy may suit a Senior Neonatal Nurse with management experience ready to develop from band 6 to band 7 within the field of Neonatal Care.

Our values guide everything we do. At all times, we aim to:

  • Demonstrate compassion
  • Strive for excellence
  • Respect diversity
  • Act with integrity
  • Listen and support others

Our teams of care professionals work with patients and their families to support peoples’ independence, health and wellbeing. We provide support to avoid hospital admissions, and if an admission is necessary, we try to make each patient’s stay in hospital as short and effective as possible before working with them on a safe discharge home.

In our most recent staff survey, our staff voted us in the top 10% of NHS provider organisations to work for and we also came out as the top provider in the South West for our overall results. Our patients (through the Friends and Family Test) regularly report an average of over 95% satisfaction with our services.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. For further information and to self-assess the likelihood of obtaining a Certificate of Sponsorship, please visit the UK Border Agency website. Note: we will be unable to obtain Tier 2 sponsorship for Bank positions.

Please note that we may close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applicants.
