Pathology and Laboratories Directorate Cellular Pathology – Histology Biomedical Scientist – Section Head Band 7 – 37.5 hours Salary scale – Agenda for Change band 7 Come and join our histology department and be a part of the digital revolution as we lead a three year digital pathology project with the regional network! Working within a tertiary referral and teaching hospital we provide histology services in all diagnostic specialties (with the exception of neuropathology) on two hospital sites. We are seeking senior biomedical scientists who are enthusiastic, innovative and keen to build on existing experience to manage different sections within the laboratory. You will need a thorough knowledge of, and experience in histopathology and team leading. The Section Heads work with the Histology Operational Manager to innovate, review practice, maintain SOPs, risk assessments and develop staff and processes. Section Heads will undertake specialised work in their section e.g. specimen dissection and undertake on call. Successful candidates must have professional registration as a Biomedical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Master’s degree in a relevant subject as well as the IBMS specialist portfolio in Histopathology (or equivalent). Relevant further training is encouraged and as a department every effort is made to provide training opportunities.
