As part of an exciting new service development, South Warwickshire Foundation NHS Trust is working in partnership with the charity Dementia UK to provide an Admiral Nursing service, focused on supporting inpatients living with a dementia, their families/carers affected by dementia and the multidisciplinary teams caring for them.

 

We are looking for an exceptional, registered (adult / mental health) nurse with a passion for, and significant experience of, providing person-centered and relationship-centered dementia care. Combining direct work with patients and families with supporting the best practice of health and social care professionals, you will call upon your impressive knowledge of holistic and therapeutic working in order to improve the experience of the person with dementia and their carers / families during their acute stay and across care transitions. You will enhance this through providing specialist dementia advice and support to professional colleagues across various departments and services within the hospital.

As Admiral Nurse Clinical Lead, you will be responsible for developing and delivering this new service and providing clinical leadership and support to the Band 6 Admiral Nurse.

 

Employed by South Warwickshire Foundation NHS Trust, and being based at Warwick Hospital, you will be supported by Dementia UK to maintain and strengthen your clinical expertise as a specialist nurse through one-to-one intensive support from a dedicated Consultant Admiral Nurse during the first six months of the service, as well as on-going monthly clinical supervision and practice and professional development. You’ll become part of a network of Admiral Nurses, and will have the opportunity to access relevant post-graduate courses and develop professionally, informed by the Admiral Nurse Competency Framework.

 

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of individuals and expects all staff to share this commitment. As part of our safe recruitment practice, it is a mandatory requirement for all newly appointed staff requiring a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to be registered with the DBS Update Service. All eligible staff recruited to the Trust are expected to maintain their annual update subscription whilst employed with the Trust as a condition of employment. The cost of the first year’s subscription to the update service will be reimbursed by the Trust as a payroll refund.
