Our Older People’s Mental Health (OPMH) Inpatient Services, based at the Western Community Hospital, strive for excellence and the Ward Manager’s role is pivotal in leading and managing a dedicated team of multidisciplinary ward staff delivering excellent care supported by our Quality Plan.

There are two OPMH wards based at the Western Community Hospital providing a service to Hampshire patients. Berrywood ward is an assessment and treatment ward providing care for older people who have Functional mental health needs. You can expect to be part of a busy team in this rewarding role.

To be a successful member of our team you will need to be a registered mental health nurse with relevant experience, have a genuine interest in working with older people and be able to demonstrate a real commitment to providing high quality and compassionate care to our patients and their families.

You will need to demonstrate an understanding and be familiar with the day to day procedures of ward management. The ability to manage change, including developments in clinical policy, the management and leadership of a diverse team and working within an MDT will be essential. You will be expected to maintain high levels of nursing care as a role model and an influential leader, meeting the CQC standards required by the Trust.
