The musculoskeletal (MSK) service delivers provides physiotherapy assessment and treatment and orthopaedic, spinal triage services and podiatry services to the people of South Gloucestershire area. Clinicians are predominately physiotherapist and podiatrists but we also have GP’s working for the service. Our aim is to offer excellent assessment and treatment of people with musculoskeletal & podiatric problems in a timely manner.

The role will support the clinical team by preparing referrals for triage, booking appointments, dealing with telephone enquiries, typing letters and other administrative support tasks to contribute to delivering excellent services to our patients.

This role will be predominantly based at Cossham Hospital but we do ask staff on occasion to provide cover at other bases.

The role is part time for 30 hours per week, over 4 days, Monday to Thursday with some flexibility as required.

We operate from 3 bases in South Gloucestershire: Cossham Hospital, Thornbury Leisure centre and Yate Westgate Centre. Our service currently runs clinics Monday-Friday 8-8pm excluding bank holidays.

Specific qualifications and experience required

  • GCSE including maths and English/ functional literacy and numeracy level 1, NVQ level 2/3 in Business administration/customer service, or equivalent working experience at this level.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of dealing with public face to face and telephone.

  • Previous experience of using a variety of IT systems, EMIS (patient systems would be advantage).

  • Audiotyping qualification/experience (would be an advantage)

  • Previous experience of working in a health setting with direct patient facing contact or in a customer care environment dealing with the public regularly.

  • Excellent prioritisation and team working skills and to be adaptable.

  • Has experience of working as part of a team

  • Able to prioritise a busy workload

  • Able to be flexible with working pattern according to service/organisation needs.

  • Ability to embrace frequent change with positive proactive attitude
