Blood Sciences- Clinical Chemistry

 

Biomedical Scientist / Healthcare Scientist (Band 5 or 6 dependant on experience)

 

37.5 hours per week

 

Applications are invited from highly motivated and enthusiastic HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists / Healthcare Scientists for permanent posts in the Clinical Chemistry department at the Royal Bolton Hospital

 

You must have an IBMS accredited BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent, with previous experience of working in an NHS laboratory, preferably with experience in Clinical Chemistry whilst undertaking the Registration Portfolio. You must be HCPC registered; however, consideration may be given to non-HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists approaching state registration with Clinical Chemistry experience.

 

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is an integrated care organisation providing patient care in the community at health centres, clinics and the hospital.

 

The successful candidate will join our friendly team of experienced Biomedical Scientists, Biochemists and support staff rotating through all sections of our busy Clinical Chemistry laboratory. There may be opportunity to rotate into the other Blood Sciences laboratories in the future.

 

The newly refurbished laboratories are well equipped (Roche c702, Roche e801, Roche p612, Thermo Phadia 250, Diasorin Liaison XL, Werfen Gem 4000, Sebia electrophoresis – Minicap, Hydrasys, manual testing – osmo, spectrophotometer), fully computerised (Clinisys LabCentre system, Roche cITm, NPEX), ISO15189 UKAS accredited. The Blood Sciences Laboratories processes around 900,000 patient samples per year.

 

The department operates an out of hours service (24 hour working – 7 days per week) in which you will be required to participate once fully trained and competent. Payment for ‘out of hours’ working is at Agenda for Change rates.

 

You will be encouraged and supported to participate in further education, training, Continuing Professional Development, portfolio development.
