Due to developments in the Trust falls and service pathway, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 Occupational Therapist (OT) to work in the citywide Community Falls Service. This is a great opportunity to join the Community Falls Service as we explore new ways of working and develop innovative pathways to support older people to maintain their independence and reduce their risk of falling.

As a clinical falls specialist OT with operational responsibilities, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the community setting alongside other Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Technical Instructors (TIs).

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing joint operational responsibility for the day to day running of the service and line management of the more junior members of staff alongside the Band 7 Physiotherapist
  • Holding a clinical caseload f or the service
  • Providing a clinical falls specialist lead OT role for the service and Trust
  • Providing multi-factorial specialist falls risk assessments and interventions to older people in the community
  • Providing specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and goal-orientated interventions to this client group with highly complex presentations and multi-pathologies
  • Supporting the provision of community-based group falls education programmes
  • Acting as a source of specialist advice, support and education regarding falls assessment and management to other community health and social care professionals

You will need to demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills, and have experience of multi-disciplinary working with older people. Experience of community working ideally in a falls service, and in-depth knowledge of falls assessment and management and the OT role within this are also important for this role. This is a full-time position, but part-time hours may be considered.

Please note the service operates Monday to Friday 8am-4pm.




If you are successful in being offered a position which involves working with patients, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The level of check required is dependent upon the position that you have applied for. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £48.83 or Standard £30) from your salary. There will be no charge if you are enrolled in the DBS Update Service.
