We have an exciting opportunity for a caring, motivated and enthusiastic Health Care Support Worker to join our 0-19 service. You will be part of a team delivering the National Child Measurement Programme and vision screening programme for the school aged population.

The School Health Service is integral to the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme; it is the universal prevention and early intervention service for school aged children that will enable them to achieve their optimum health and wellbeing.

The primary aim of the service is to achieve the best health and wellbeing outcomes for school age children through the healthy child programme of health and development reviews, immunisations, health promotion and interventions tailored to individual risks and protective factors.

The School Nursing service is undergoing significant change due to being recently rewarded with delivering the 0-19 healthy child programme.

The Post is a 12 month fixed term contract, working 30 hours per week, all year round and 1 permanent, 37.5 hours per weekposition.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their skills and attributes for this role including excellent written and verbal communication skills and be competent in a range of IT packages. You will be working as part of a team and experience of working with school-age children and young people is essential. An understanding of safeguarding is desirable.
You will be required to liaise effectively and communicate with other members of the wider team and act as an advocate for children to ensure that their individual needs are met.

There is an expectation that you will work across the city within the wider school health teams, and so the ability to travel independently and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes is essential. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act.

If you are successful in being offered a position which involves working with patients, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The level of check required is dependent upon the position that you have applied for. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £48.83 or Standard £30) from your salary. There will be no charge if you are enrolled in the DBS Update Service.
