Band 6 Registered Nurse for Mental Health

Her Majesty’s Young Offender Institute (HMYOI) Werrington

We are looking to recruit a creative and forward-thinking individual to the Inclusion Mental Health and Substance Misuse Team to help us make a real difference to the lives of the young men (aged 15 to 18 years) in our care.

HMYOI Werrington is part of the Young Person’s Secure Estate for England and is located near Stoke-on-Trent.

We are a multi-disciplinary team consisting of a consultant forensic psychiatrist, a clinical psychologist, psychosocial substance misuse recovery workers, a creative therapist, a learning disability nurse and mental health nurses.

The expansion and development of the current team is being enabled through the “Secure Stairs” initiative, which aims to ensure that HMYOI Werrington is a “holistic system”: that all staff have the right training, skills, supervision and support to understand and then facilitate positive change for individuals who have had many adverse childhood experiences.

This will enable those in our care to have better mental and physical health; better education, employment and housing opportunities; and better chances of leading a pro-social and positive life.

Our team prides itself in offering:

• Monthly operational management and caseload supervision;

• Clinical supervision to support specialist skills development;

• Multidisciplinary team working/ skill mix/ opportunities for team development;

• CPD opportunities.
