We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated volunteer to join our team, as a pharmacy assistant (unpaid volunteer). You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team working closely with Pharmacists, Technicians and other Assistants.

 

 

 

We are looking for 1 part time Pharmacy Assistant (22.5 hours per week), to join our Pharmacy Team at the St. Bernard’s site.

 

 

 

The main focus of the role will be to provide a dispensing and support service to wards and departments in the hospital and some reception duties to the main dispensary. Duties are varied and may include:

 

 

 

    • Picking, packing and assembling medicines

 

    • Assisting in the dispensing of items within the dispensary

 

    • Portering of pharmacy medicines to wards and departments - including considerable manual handling

 

    • Working with the Pharmacy stores receiving and processing orders

 

    • Manning phones and the reception within the dispensary

 

    • Supplying medicines to wards and departments by means of a top-up

 

    • Working towards the pharmacy quality improvement and medicines safety and strategy.

 

    • Administrative tasks, the use of technology and liaising with healthcare professionals will be routine aspects of the role.

 

 

 

Meeting the needs of our service users is extremely important to us, and we are looking for an individual who shares our vision to deliver a high quality, service-user focused approach.

 

 

 

Applicants must be enthusiastic, self-motivated and show a willingness to learn and be trained. You must be able to pay attention to detail and produce work to the required standard whilst meeting deadlines.

 

 

 

Previous experience working in a pharmacy is desirable but not essential, as on the job training will be provided.
