Band 5 Staff Nurse – Full Time / Part Time

Acute Care Unit C

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking nurse to join our Acute Care Unit C team (ACUC). ACUC is involved in the assessment and treatment of acute medical patients admitted from the Emergency Department and directly from the Ambulance Service. We ensure that our patients are cared for safely and treated at the right time in the right place and then transferred to the appropriate speciality for ongoing care.

You will be directly responsible for all aspects of care for your group of patients and show the ability to problem solve and work under pressure in an ever-changing and challenging acute medical environment. You will be able to prioritize your workload and delegate to junior members of the team as appropriate. You should be willing to work with all members of the Multidisciplinary team to ensure the safe treatment and discharge of all patients as well as maintain the fast paced patient flow through the unit, meeting local and national standards.

We in turn offer you the opportunity to be part of our friendly, hardworking team and gain experience in Acute Medicine. We provide Trust Mandatory training as well as opportunities to undertake courses and training pertinent to acute medical care in order to further your knowledge and gain extended competencies. In addition, we regularly have Student Nurses on placement and all trained staff are given the opportunity to mentor and participate in their education.

We care for our patients 7 days a week, 24 hours a day so you will need to have the flexibility to take part in the full shift system including nights and weekend working.
