General Radiologist with a sub-specialty interest, ideally in intervention, to compliment the service. 10 PAs

The Radiology Department is friendly and provides high quality general and specialist services which are greatly appreciated by the Hospital doctors and GPs. On call is Consultant to Consultant referral, and the rota is one in six or seven, dependent on recruitment, with cross cover. A laptop is provided for on call, with reporting from home. Overnight (from 9pm to 9am) scans are reported by registrars via shared PACS and CRIS covering four local Trusts. From 5-9 every evening imaging is outsourced.

The general workload includes x-ray and cross sectional reporting, an ultrasound list (though not essential) and MDT meetings. Liaison duties include providing radiological opinions and vetting and reporting CT and MRI scans for inpatients. Outpatient CT & MRI scans are allocated on a quota basis. This post is for a general radiologist ideally with an interventional interest, but other interests would certainly be considered. Development of a subspecialist interest would be supported – abdominal, CT colonography, neurology, paediatric, thoracic, musculo-skeletal or uro-gynaecological would be particularly welcomed, but any subspecialty interest would be considered.

Specialist sessions may be available at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital depending on specialty interests

We have a 3 registrars from the Peninsula Radiology Academy. An additional SPA session will be considered soon after appointment. The hospital is operating within budget, and scored second in England in a recent “family and friends” survey.
