Exciting volunteering opportunities have arisen within South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust for Community First Responders to join the Community First Responder Schemes within the Dorset community.

We welcome applicants from throughout Dorset; however we are particularly interested in people from the following areas: Blandford Forum, Lyme Regis, Fortuneswell, Beaminster, Swanage, Sturminster Newton and Verwood.

Please be aware, if there is not currently a Community First Responder scheme running within a 3 mile radius of your home postcode you will not be short listed.

A Community First Responder scheme is made up of groups of volunteers who, within the community in which they live or work have been trained to attend emergency calls on behalf of South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. They will provide basic life support until the arrival of an emergency ambulance, 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

As a volunteer and member of this Community First Responder Scheme you would provide this community based service, willingly and without pay. This role is highly rewarding and offers opportunities to meet new people and learn valuable lifesaving skills through the training provided by South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

Applicants will have a good all round education; a full clean driving license held for at least one year, with no more than 3 current penalty points and has a vehicle with current tax, MOT and insurance for your use. Following shortlisting, applicants will be invited to attend a formal interview whereby they will be expected to have some knowledge of the role and South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust.

When applying for this position, please also be aware that you must be able to attend the following interview dates and four day training course:

Interviews are scheduled to be on the week commencing 7th October 2019 at Dorchester Ambulance Station.

The four day training course is scheduled to be held on the 2nd & 3rd and 16th&17th November 2019 at Dorchester Ambulance Station. Please be aware that you will be requiered to attend all 4 days of the course.

Offers of Community First Responder roles will be subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks, which consist of Occupational Health clearance, references to cover 3 years, and Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) clearance.
