We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our team in the position of Consultant Cardiologist with an interest in Coronary Intervention at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

UHL’s Cardiac Unit is a major UK provider at secondary, tertiary, and quaternary level and benefits from on-site cardiac surgery, ECMO, structural intervention, and Leicester’s National Institute for Health Research Biomedical Research Centre.

We have a strong national and international reputation for clinical and research excellence in interventional cardiology. We have carried out some landmark trials in myocardial infarction, and are among the first in the world to carry out transcatheter aortic valve intervention (TAVI) in 2007.

The successful applicant will be based at the Glenfield Hospital site and will support the Cardiology team in providing high quality, efficient coronary intervention for emergency and non-emergency cases.

The service carries out circa 1400 coronary interventions a year within 5 high specification catheterisation laboratories and a hybrid theatre. An expectation of this post is to carry out typically 1 elective session and 1 to 2 acute lists a week as well as undertake inpatient ward rounds and board rounds. Primary PCI is carried out 24/7 for a caseload of approximately 400 per year. Participation the interventional on-call rota is currently in place (1:7).
