Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist looking for an opportunity to develop your leadership skills and intradisciplinary models of working within our inpatient services?
Southampton inpatient services within Solent NHS Trust are undergoing an extensive transformation, bringing all inpatient rehabilitation onto one site (Western Community Hospital) with the aim of becoming a centre of excellence. This post will provide the opportunity to lead on service developments and work at the heart of the intradisciplinary team.
You will be the Lead SLT for inpatient care, based at the Western Community Hospital on the outskirts of Southampton City Centre. This site houses both the Kite Unit (neuropsychiatric) and Snowdon Neurorehabilitation Unit. There are also two general rehabilitation wards currently located at the Royal South Hants site.
Your role will be to deliver inpatient care for clients with a range of conditions, such as traumatic brain injury, or stroke; drive forward with service developments; provide management and support to more junior staff/students and deputise for the manager.
As a member of the team, you will be provided with opportunities to develop your CPD portfolio, with both external and internal opportunities. You will have monthly clinical supervision and line management and regular peer support sessions.
You will maintain close links with the wider SLT service, as we provide input to the following areas; the Home Enteral Nutrition team (HEN), Early Supported Discharge Teams (ESD) and Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team (CNRT) and general Outpatient service. We also share close links with the Adult SLT service in Portsmouth and at University Hospital Southampton, which provides an opportunity to share learning initiatives and service developments.
You must hold a professional registration with the HCPC and RCSLT. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to the use of a car.
