B6 Community Dietitian (Long Covid – 22.5 hours (0.6WTE) with option to increase to 37.5 hours (1.0 WTE) – please see below

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to be part of the new and innovative Community COVID Rehabilitation Team. We are looking for a senior dietician who is passionate about supporting the recovery and rehabilitation of people who have experienced COVID 19. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a dedicated, enthusiastic multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Interest in Long Covid

Our service provides support to the Long Covid patients across Leeds. Dietary support is provided as part of the MDT to Long Covid patients in all areas of dietetics including undernutrition, diabetes, gastro and weight management.

As a new and emerging area of dietetics you will need to keep up to date with new research and support your dietetic clinical lead in service development including outcome recording and analysis, service evaluation and resource development.

What will you do?

In addition to the above you will have a key role in representing dietetics at MDT meetings and supporting all members of the team with nutrition related queries.

Your role will involve triaging and prioritisation of referrals to the dietitian. You will have a caseload of patients with Long Covid who are also experiencing dietary complications. Consultations are either virtually or face to face including clinics and home visits.

You will have a role in facilitating the multidisciplinary virtual course nutrition module that is offered to all Long Covid MDT patients.

What we offer?

The service has been running since September 2020, making it one of the first Covid Rehabilitation services nationally, and stands out from other post-Covid assessment clinics in our provision of in-house comprehensive rehabilitation. We are a high-profile service nationally and has led the way in developing models of treatment for this novel condition. The service has recently won a prestigious BMJ award and is also at the forefront of cutting-edge research leading on a major NIHR study in COVID.

As a Senior Dietitian your role would involve supporting student dieticians to help the next generation of dieticians provide patient-centred care. We would support you via our clinical lead roles through our appraisal process. Our supportive environment enables staff to influence our department and we welcome suggestions for change. We are proud of our innovative ways of working in audit and research in practice and are keen for you to help us provide evidence of effectiveness of our service. The Trust has excellent IT facilities to ensure fast and reliable access to SystmOne and Leeds Care Record for patient records off site and at home. All staff are provided with a laptop and smart phone.

We currently work in a hybrid model of remote working based from home or the office.

Potential for full time hours

We can offer flexibility in the hours worked. Whilst the post within Long Covid is part time (0.6WTE), there is the possibility of making the post full time with an additional 0.4WTE within Adult Nutrition and Dietetics Team.

In this role, you will be responsible for a mixed adult caseload including undernutrition, diabetes, gastrointestinal conditions in a variety of settings such as community clinics, patient homes, groups and care homes. You would also be involved in supporting our newly qualified dietitians within the team on a day-to-day basis and through preceptorship and clinical supervision.

Please make contact for further details.
