Family Support Worker, Neonatal Surgical Ward

Band 3

30 hours a week

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support our families on our Neonatal Surgical Ward (NSW).Our NSW is a leading centre for surgical care that serves the whole of the West Midlands and cares for neonates and babies and their families with complex surgical needs. We are part of a wider network within the West Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network and work in unison with other neonatal units to provide high standards of surgical expertise and care.

 

We are seeking to find an ambitious, brave and compassionate person to help support our families to join our team as a Family Support Worker. As we strive to provide excellent care, this role is expected to complement our existing service by working closely with our Discharge Coordinator.

 

The key purpose of the Family Support Worker (FSW) role will work as integrated member of the multi-disciplinary team and support the established NSW team. The role will focus on providing needs-led educational, emotional, social and practical support to families with babies receiving care on the NSW.

 

The Family Support Worker will become a trusted and constant person in the family life whilst in hospital providing practical and emotional support. Helping parents that feel isolated in hospital and connecting them with local services through community family support and key workers before discharge to integrate them into the community after a long stay in hospital.
