Clinical Psychologist (Band 8b)

Location: HMP Stafford and HMP/YOI Drake Hall

Salary – Band 8b Pay Range

Hours – 0.6WTE (22.5hrs)

  • You will make a positive difference to the lives of people who have traditionally been hard to engage. This post provides an opportunity to work with a wide range of clients across two locations. HMP Stafford is a Category C prison for adult males who have committed sexual offences. HMP/YOI Drake Hall is a women’s prison for women aged 18 years and over.
  • At both locations you will be working as part of an established, integrated substance misuse and mental health teams who provide primary and secondary level multi-disciplinary care for individuals requiring support with mental health and/or substance misuse difficulties. The integration of the teams provides the opportunity for consistent care for service users with experts in a wide range of professions including occupational therapists, mental health nurses, social workers, assistant psychologists and recovery workers. Good relationships with the establishments and community services provides the ability to develop multi-agency working and continued support for service users.

The Role:

Your role will involve making a positive difference to the lives of prisoners. You will have the opportunity to use your clinical and consultation skills as well as deliver training and develop programmes. Across the wider organisation, you will also be involved in a range of other strategic projects and responsibilities.

We are looking for HCPC registered clinical psychologists, ideally some experience of criminal justice and mental health services. You will have experience of delivering psychological assessments and interventions for mental health. You will enjoy working independently and have the skills to develop excellent working relationships with colleagues, commissioners and service users. You will have an interest in both the clinical aspects of the role, and developing your strategic and leadership skills.

You will be joining the supportive Inclusion psychology team who meet regularly to explore issues and collaborate on research or development projects. We will support you to access regular clinical supervision and appropriate professional development.
