A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6/7 Specialist Clinical Pharmacist to join the Forward Thinking Birmingham Pharmacy Team (FTB).

FTB is a consortium responsible for the provision of mental health services for 0-25 age group in

Birmingham. It consists of a group of four partners which include; Birmingham Women's and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, the Priory Group, Operose Health and the Children’s Society with Birmingham women’s and children’s NHS Foundation trust as the lead provider.

The Pharmacy team is responsible for providing medicines to all FTB hubs and ensuring that medicines management practice is in line with trust policies.

The post is based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital but there is also the opportunity for cross-sectional working with Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust.

Applicants would be supported in their pursuit of a postgraduate clinical qualification in Psychiatric pharmacy. The Pharmacist step-up programme is a great opportunity to progress to band 7 with successful completion of a postgraduate qualification in psychiatric pharmacy with competency assessment. Candidates already in possession of a postgraduate qualification would be recruited at band 7. The post holder will be expected to work cross-site visiting the FTB Hubs, situated around the Birmingham area. There is also the expectation to provide specialist clinical Pharmacy input to community mental health teams within Forward Thinking Birmingham. This includes medication review and counselling, providing expert advice to the team and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings (MDT).

The post holder must be self-motivated and confident and an excellent communicator. Excellent IT skills will be required to ensure all processes are carried out accurately and efficiently.

The Pharmacy Department has strong links with academia with many opportunities for further education and development. The post holder will be expected to participate in the on-call, extended hours, weekend and regular core duty rotas as appropriate.
