With a turnover of close to £600m, the Trust provides comprehensive secondary care and specialist services to a local population of 675,000 people across South East Hampshire. Some tertiary services are provided to a wider catchment in excess of two million people. The Trust employs over 7,300 staff and is the largest employer in Portsmouth.

Orthoptist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Orthoptist to join the department based at Queen Alexandra Hospital Portsmouth. You will join a forward thinking department of 5.8 WTE Orthoptists and 3 Optometrists. The Ophthalmology department has 15 Ophthalmologists, four of which specialise in paediatric ophthalmology and ocular motility.

This role is suitable for newly qualified and current Orthoptists where a broad knowledge of clinical Orthoptics and excellent communication skills are essential. The department supports the delivery of both Adult and Paediatric Orthoptic services both at the QA and peripheral sites across the region. We also deliver an inpatient stroke service and special school screening. The department is an accredited site for undergraduate Orthoptic placements as well as providing teaching to health visitors, school nurses, medical students, pre registration optometrists and other health professionals. Mentorship is available for this post if required.

Candidates must have a degree/diploma in Orthoptics and current registration with HCPC is essential.
