Our tactical plan is also in full swing and we need your active involvement now. Our ambition for the future hospital digital vision is to develop a unified, digitally mature infrastructure across our integrated health and care system, providing our population with seamlessly interconnected digital tools that enable preventative self-care and empower our workforce to deliver exceptional care, quality, and safety for all patients across acute and community settings in Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall, in line with the best practice guidance.

We are looking to appoint a Senior Consultant with a genuine interest in digitally enhanced care as our Chief Clinical Information Officer. This would typically attract 4.8 PA's per week in a substantive role.

The CIO will pioneer new ways of working and promote the “art of the possible”. They will lead on the promotion, innovation and transformation of clinical services and pathways using information and technologies across all medical professionals.

The post holder will be expected to discuss with the Chief Information Officer, Medical Director and their Clinical Director an amended job plan and agree the most appropriate balance of fixed commitments. Where possible, at least 50% of the time allocated to the CCIO role should be fixed in the weekly job plan to enable attendance at relevant meetings.

Within the team, the Chief Clinical Information Officer will;

  • Work with clinical colleagues and other stakeholders to expedite the move to a digital clinical environment
  • Act as a figurehead and dynamic reference point
  • Lead the development of a digital communications strategy
  • Foster digital inclusion, ensuring no stakeholders are left behind as the Trust becomes digitally mature
  • Promote clinical engagement, education, and empowerment of staff
