Band 5 Theatre Practitioner

The Trust provides a range of services over three hospitals sites; Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Alexandra Hospital and Kidderminster Treatment Centre. Within the Trust, there are 21 Operating Theatres Countywide, all of which practice a range of specialities.

Our mission is to work together with our partners in health and social care to provide safe, effective, personalised and integrated care for local people, delivered consistently across all services by skilled and compassionate staff. Each patient coming to the operating theatres will receive holistic, evidence-based care, which is planned to meet his or her needs throughout the peri-operative period.

Worcestershire Royal Hospital offers specialities which include; General, Laparoscopic, Gynaecology, Vascular, CEPOD, Head & Neck ENT and Trauma Orthopaedic work and an Obstetric theatre and Intervention room. Our dedicated team also supports a range of services, with opportunities for out of department working. These include MRI & CT services, ECT, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology and Accident and Emergency.

The Alexandra Hospital in Redditch offers specialities which include; General, Gynaecology, Urology, Trauma and Elective Orthopaedics and Emergencies. We also participate in 24 hour cover of the Accident and Emergency Department.

Kidderminster Treatment Centre Theatre offers specialities which include; Orthopaedics, General, Gynaecology, Breast surgery, ENT, Dental, Urology, Vascular and Pain services covering all aspects of day and short stay elective surgery, for both adult and paediatric patients.

We welcome staff from any acute hospital nursing or ODP background who can demonstrate a positive attitude to learning and teaching within an acute fast moving, patient- centred environment. Student nurses and ODPs approaching the end of their training will also be considered.

Continual Professional development is supported with the opportunity to work countywide, or expanding your role by undertaking University based modules/courses.

You will be required to work a range of shift patterns including early shifts, late shifts, on-calls, night shifts and weekends, depending on the site you are based on.

Theatre experience is desirable but not essential as training will be given. The post-holder will also be expected to mentor junior staff and pre-registration students as appropriate.
