An exciting opportunity has arisen for a development opportunity for a Band 8a fixed term secondment covering 15hours/week until April 2022 as an IPC Specialist Practitioner.

The Infection Prevention and Control Team at Leeds Community Health Care NHS Trust (LCH) works not only throughout LCH but the wider healthcare economy. We work closely with partners throughout the system to ensure that safe, effective care is provided to the people of Leeds and the preventative measures are in place to reduce the transmission of preventable healthcare associated infections.

The role will be to lead a portfolio of work across Leeds GP Confederation – see job description for further detail.

Applicants should be enthusiastic, motivated, and hardworking healthcare professionals. You should have experience at Band 7 or above and a proven interest in infection prevention and control. You will have an accredited IPC qualification to post graduate certificate level. You will be working as a member of a friendly, supportive specialised Infection Prevention and Control team and your role will include assisting in the citywide delivery of the infection prevention and control strategy which includes; surveillance and investigation of health care associated infections, educating and training staff in infection control practices, auditing, innovative preventative measures. There will also be the opportunity to carry out other specific IP&C projects. We work citywide supporting LCH staff, patients and services, as well as services throughout the wider system such as schools and nurseries, GP Practices, Care Homes etc. The successful applicant requires the ability to make decisions, work well within a team in a fast paced environment and the ability to work independently when required is essential. You will have excellent communication skills, be able to work flexibly and be committed to meeting deadlines and targets. You must display a passion for high quality patient focused care.

The post will be based at Chapeltown Health Centre; however, post holders will be expected to work throughout the city as required, therefore being a car driver is essential.




If you are successful in being offered a position which involves working with patients, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The level of check required is dependent upon the position that you have applied for. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost from your salary. There will be no charge if you are enrolled in the DBS Update Service.
