The Trust’s main hub is the Queen Alexandra Hospital, which started life more than a century ago as a military hospital. With a turnover of close to £600m, the Trust provides comprehensive secondary care and specialist services to a local population of 675,000 people across South East Hampshire. Some tertiary services are provided to a wider catchment in excess of two million people. The Trust employs over 7,300 staff and is the largest employer in Portsmouth.

Head of Analytics

The head of analytics is a critical role to the future of our provision of high quality analytics.  Its an exciting time for the analytics team at Portsmouth Hospitals University trust with the development of our analytics strategy and proposed Centre of Excellence for Analytics. The head of analytics role will be integral to the implementation of the strategy and will provide professional leadership to the analytics team through this time.


The role will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high quality information and analytics to the trust to support performance, planning, transformation, improvement and service design. Working closely with senior managers across the trust, you will lead a team modernising the delivery of our analytics and ensuring front line staff have the information they need in the right place at the right time.


This will include overseeing the delivery of new ways of visualising our data; enhancing the trusts modelling and forecasting capabilities and working with our MIS team to develop assured and curated data sets that are suitable for use across the trust.


The Job


Reporting to the Deputy CIO Analytics, you will manage a team of analysts and developers, ensuring the delivery of high quality analytics and a service-oriented culture. You will be engaging with colleagues supporting operational and clinical delivery on a daily basis.


You will lead the modernisation of our analytics solutions that will support new ways of working and ensure alignment with trust improvement and transformation programmes. Experience of SQL, Power BI and modelling tools will be an advantage.


You will be highly motivated, ambitions and willing to promote the work of the team and the positive changes we are making.  You will have the drive, enthusiasm and communication skills to drive the analytics strategy forward.
