A few words from a member of the team -
CAMHS is the first place I have worked, where I feel more than just a number. The whole team is so supportive and it’s not just about doing a job, its about helping you to progress to those roles you’ve always wanted and helping you to develop, which I’ve never experienced in a place of work previously.'

We have an exciting opportunity for a rotational post within the CAMHS services in Southampton. Over a period of 18 months, you will spend 6 months within the specialist CAMHS Team, 6 months within the BRS Team and 6 months within the CAMHS In-Reach liaison service at BRS. We feel this post is a perfect opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills within CAMHS.

This position calls for a professional with experience of working with children, young people and their families experiencing mental health and trauma difficulties. In all cases, you must be able to demonstrate the clinical, consultation and communication skills needed to offer an outstanding service.

You will be working alongside an established CAMHS team at an important time in our development. It really is an exciting time to be joining Southampton CAMHS as we push forward with implementing new ways of working in order to best meet the needs of the population we work with. We are looking for a Mental Health Practitioner/ Nurse who can lead by example and truly engage with service users, colleagues, and stakeholders.

About the 3 Teams you will be working in –

Sp CAMHS

The CAMHs team is part of a supportive and innovative child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) in Southampton. The aim of this service is to support a child/young person in continuing with their mental health recovery at home with their families with the right support and most importantly the least restrictive.

The post holder will be part of the CAMHS multi-disciplinary team delivering specialist mental health support for children and young people and their parents/carers.

All young people who are accepted to the service will follow a structured Programme, in line with relevant NICE guidelines. Interventions are delivered by a multi-disciplinary clinical team comprising of: Consultant Psychiatrist, Psychologists, Nurses, Social Worker, Dietitian, Family Therapist, Assistant Psychologists and Managerial Support.

The successful candidate would be professionally registered and be supported to work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.

The CAMHS team is a strong and supportive team and has excellent structures to offer regular supervision and support.

BRS

The BRS has embraced their transformation journey over recent years in line with Future in Mind priorities and the NHS Long Term Plan to provide an integrated multi agency crisis care response service to some of the most at risk and vulnerable children and young people in Southampton. The service provides short to medium term high intensity intervention with the aim of preventing hospital admission or placement breakdown. The service works in very close partnership with the Specialist CAMHS and Social Work teams alongside other key partner agencies within education and third sector providers. Multi agency partnership working is strong within Southampton, and this is well demonstrated by this long-standing service made up of a wide range of multi-agency professionals demonstrating the positive outcomes that can be achieved for young people when health, social care, and education work cohesively together.

CAMHS Liaison In-Reach

This is a New Child and Adolescent Mental Health In-reach Liaison Team which undertakes rapid crisis assessments for young people up to the age of 18 attending University Hospital Southampton (UHS). The team will be based in UHS and have an office in the Paediatric Emergency Department and will be integrated with the Community CAMHS Service, Crisis Team, Mental Health in Schools Team and Behaviour Resource Service.
