Executive Medical Director

Salary: NHS Consultant Contract / VSM – Competitive Salary

We are seeking an exceptional and enthusiastic clinical leader to be our next Executive Medical Director...

It’s an exciting time to join us on our journey to deliver excellence for our population across Warrington and Halton and strive to move from CQC ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’. As a result of the current incumbent moving on to a role with a national arms-length NHS body, we are seeking to appoint a new Executive Medical Director who shares our values and ambitions and is energetic about building on our success. We are looking for someone who can bring with them medical leadership alongside expertise and experience of system working, collaboration and transformational change.

In addition to medical leadership, we are seeking to appoint an experienced clinician with a genuine interest in digitally enhanced care. The postholder will pioneer new ways of working, act as a figurehead and dynamic reference point as well as promote the ‘art of the possible’. They will lead on the promotion, innovation and transformation of clinical services and pathways using information and technologies. They will be responsible for building and developing a team of highly skilled individuals to help us achieve our ambitions.

This is a great opportunity to lead and develop a culture of quality improvement and clinical excellence, whilst influencing the transformation of our services through effective collaboration with key strategic partners, especially as Cheshire and Merseyside moves into a statutory Integrated Care System structure with provider collaboratives.

Over the last 12-18 months the Trust has worked extensively with local and regional stakeholders on the clinical response during the pandemic and the ongoing operational recovery plans. This strategic approach has provided the building blocks to enhance system working and enabled us to move faster and further in our system ambitions to provide a seamless service of health and social care for the people of Warrington and Halton.

We want to appoint someone to our team who is enthusiastic about improvement, who will inspire others, as well as support and develop our clinical workforce. We are looking for a values-driven leader who can work effectively as part of a strong multi-professional executive team. There are substantial opportunities to develop partnership working across primary, secondary and social care and you’ll combine a strategic mindset with an ability to implement change and transformation in services which benefits our staff and our patients. You will also offer challenge and support in delivering our ambitious agenda which includes developing and delivering local, regional and national policy changes so that the Trust continues to have an established and progressive future in serving the people of Warrington and Halton, as part of a wider health and care system.
