POSITION: Full Time & Part Time, Permanent

LOCATION: Home based

HOURS: 9am - 5pm (flexible 8am-8pm and/or weekends available)

SALARY: £30,000 - £34,000 per annum

The Assistant Autism Assessment Practitioner position requires an individual who is skilled at autism diagnostic assessment andinterventions and who is committed to delivering the best outcomes for neurodiverse children, young people, adultsand their families. The successful candidate will be a member of an MDT and will deliver part of the autism assessment alongside providing support, advice and interventions to service users and their families. They will receive close supervision and support from their team manager and clinical leads.

The key aspects of the role are:


  • To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording,report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with relevantprofessional codes of practice and Healios policies and procedures
  • To actively contribute to multi disciplinary team meetings, working with others to reach a diagnosticconclusion
  • To undertake high quality autism assessments and provide interventions
  • Effectively communicate with neurodiverse children, young people and adults, families, internal and externalstaff
  • Act as a professional role model at all times
  • Meet service objectives and key performance indicators

Policy/Service Development

  • Act in accordance with Healios policies
  • To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national policies and issues in relation to neurodevelopmental differences and mental health
  • Share innovation and ideas with the team lead and service manager

Research & Development

  • Be aware of new developments within the area of specialism
  • Attend training where needs are identified

Education, Learning and Personal Development

  • Maintain active continuing professional development throughout your practice
  • Take an active part in consistency assurance activities
  • Share any training needs / gaps with your line manager

Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults

  • To adhere to the principles of effective safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
  • Undertake risk assessments and respond appropriately to risk concerns
  • Complete Safeguarding Children training Level 3

  • At least 3 years’ experience in autism diagnostic assessment and work as part of an MDT
  • ADOS or ADI-r trained and experienced
  • Experience of delivering support / interventions to neurodiverse children and / or adults
  • Ability to undertake risk assessments and develop risk plans
  • Experienced in safeguarding assessment and procedures
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure as part of a team
  • Commitment to improving the experience of neurodiverse individuals
