Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Senior Fire Safety Officer at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Based at North Manchester General Hospital, the successful applicant will assist the Group Fire Safety Manager in all fire safety matters across the Trust. They will be responsible for overseeing fire safety projects including new build, alterations, extension and renovation works and the day to day supervision of the fire safety team.

You will be appropriately qualified and have substantial relevant experience in fire safety management within a Local Authority Fire Service or similar. You will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of fire safety legislation and guidance in relation to hospital premises and be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills required for this post.

The individual will need to be self-motivated and personable and have experience in a supervisory role. You will be able to plan your own workload and supervise the workload of the fire team. As part of a team you will be delivering a quality service to support patient services across the Trust.

Your responsibilities will include dealing with strategic issues affecting the site, reviewing policies and procedures, reviewing guidance documents, fire investigation, attendance at strategic H&S meetings, preparation of the annual report, audits, fire safety advice on development schemes, supervision and work allocation of assistants, fire strategies, and liaison with enforcement agencies, contractors, suppliers and other specialist and non-specialist agencies.
