An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the ward clerk team on the Clinical Decisions Unit at the Glenfield Hospital.

The Clinical Decisions Unit is an acute admissions ward for cardiac and respiratory admissions with 27 beds and 16 trolleys, the Clinical Decisions Unit take admissions 24 hours a day from Emergency Department, bed bureau and via 999 calls.

You will be responsible for answering the telephone, dealing with enquiries, admitting patients on Nerve Centre and Patient Centre, transferring patients to other wards on Patient Centre, discharging patients, filing and making up sets of notes.

The successful applicant should be computer literate and previous experience as a ward clerk within an NHS environment would be an advantage, however training can be given. A working knowledge of Trackit, Nerve Centre and Patient Centre would be beneficial.

The post requires you to have excellent communication skills and customer service abilities as you will be dealing with patients and their relatives.

You will be require to work using your own initiative, managing your own workload as well as being part of the Clinical Decisions Unit team.

You will be working a combination of 11.5 hour days and nights on a rota basis, ensuring that the needs of the unit are covered.
