Our rehabilitation service is being transformed and as part of this transformation we are introducing the role of Health and Wellbeing Coach, as this is a new role and covers work across 3 different sites we are looking to recruit a health and wellbeing coach assistant on a fixed term 6 month contract. If you would like a rewarding role working within therapeutic environments providing specialist health and well-being coaching to those who through the effects of their mental illness have not prioritised their own health and well-being, this may be of interest to you. Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable people to maximise their life expectancy by making positive life choices to accomplish this.

The life expectancy of those who suffer with serious mental illness is well documented to be significantly shorter than the general population, we feel that we need to make it a priority to support people to live healthier lives and so we are looking to employ the right person who can work alongside the health and wellbeing coach to support them in the delivery of the model of care with shared values to complete this work within our rehabilitation services.

Are you the person we are looking for to help change people’s lives and support people reach their potential? This Role includes supporting the health & wellbeing coach and is much more than developing healthy eating and exercise plans, it is about developing trusting relationships and building on this trust to challenge current thinking and motivation. It is about having a deep understanding about the effects of mental illness on an individual’s life, about the challenges that people with mental illness face each day in just going about their daily lives. It is about being able to work within these challenges to support each person individually, to help them see their own potential when this has for some, been lost to them for many years.

Part of the role will be to increase people’s self-esteem and self-worth so that they have the confidence and motivation to make changes, to challenge themselves to try new things and create a more fulfilling and meaningful life for themselves.

This is a really exciting post for a motivated individual who possesses the skills and knowledge to develop this aspect of our rehabilitation service and support the health and wellbeing coach. The successful candidate must have good understanding of mental illness and the challenges those experiencing it face in day to day life. They must have experience in health and fitness as well as training in coaching and be able to take direction and work collaboratively with the health and wellbeing coach.

We are looking for someone who works well as part of a team and who has adaptable skills and work with the health and wellbeing coach to develop health and well-being interventions throughout the service. We need you to be able to think creatively and innovatively and problem solve. Other attributes we are seeking is someone with a positive outlook, enthusiasm, energy and motivation. The successful candidate must be passionate about making a positive difference to people’s lives and someone who can get the best out of others.

You must possess excellent communication skills and be confident to present reports within multi-disciplinary team meetings as well as be able to communicate at all levels and at times with those who are finding it difficult to communicate.

All positions are subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and medical clearance. Evidence of valid professional registration and appropriate DBS clearances will also be required where relevant. All posts will also be subject to successful completion of a 12 week probationary period.
