We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Technologist, Dosimetrist or Therapeutic Radiographer to act as a Senior Dosimetrist and Mould Room specialist in the Radiotherapy Centre at Carlisle. The workload would be roughly one third mould room and two thirds dosimetry. The post holder will be based in Carlisle and will have the opportunity to participate in developments within the sections, and may be required to provide supervision and training for junior staff.

Current experience of radiotherapy treatment planning is not necessary although desirable, some basic mould room experience however is required. The post holder will be supported through a comprehensive in-house competency based training programme in treatment planning and mould room for a wide range of treatment sites.

The Radiotherapy Service in Carlisle is due to relocate to a brand new, purpose built department (The Northern Centre for Cancer Care North Cumbria) on the Cumberland Infirmary site in July 2021. This will house two Varian TrueBeam linacs, Aria Oncology Management System, Siemens CT scanner, mould room facilities and a treatment planning suite. Radiotherapy treatment planning is undertaken on Raystation which is shared with the department in Newcastle, The Northern Centre for Cancer Care (NCCC). The Dosimetry and Mould Room teams work as a large combined service between both sites of NCCC in Newcastle and Carlisle allowing ample opportunities for the post holder to deepen their experience of complex treatment planning techniques.

Applications are invited from candidates with relevant dose planning or radiotherapy experience. They should have a Degree in Science or Radiotherapy or a Diploma of the College of Radiographers, or an HNC in Medical Physics, or equivalent. They should also have appropriate professional registration (e.g on the Register as a Clinical Technologist or registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) if a Radiographer).
