Chief Information Officer

Job Reference: 412-CIO

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Leighton Hopsital, Crewe
£91,004 - VSM

A unique opportunity for an ambitious leader to drive a new Digital Strategy from the start, driving improvement in patient and population care through digital services. The Trust is currently procuring a Digital Clinical System as part of the foundation of this journey and has plans to drive digital innovation at the heart of its new strategy. Our journey to world class care includes the redevelopment of the hospital based on a new Digital Hospital environment, developing innovative solutions to integrated care and ensuring our clinicians have the intelligence they need at their fingertips to enable this to happen.

The role reports directly to the CEO, is part of the Executive Team and sits on the Trust Board to ensure that the CIO is at the heart of the strategic direction and decision making. You will be responsible for the Digital Transformation and Information Services team (DTIS) , building and developing a team of highly skilled individuals to help us achieve our ambitions. You will work closely with our Clinical Chief Information Officer and the Programme Director for the Digital Clinical System to ensure that we are designing our new clinical information around the needs of our frontline staff.

The role will be based between Leighton Hospital and a new offsite corporate HQ near to Crewe railway station as well as home working so is a very flexible opportunity with good links to travel infrastructure.

We are looking for someone with considerable experience in leading Digital Transformation, ideally already a CIO in a Health and Social Care setting, but also an opportunity for an aspiring Health & Social Care Chief Information Officer with a passion for leading the implementation and support of efficient and effective digital solutions for high quality patient care. You will thrive on teamwork and networking both within the Trust and across organisational boundaries alike. Both your CIO role and your Board role will be supported with significant personal development and Executive Team/Board development is a regular monthly fixture. This is a unique opportunity for the right person to provide digital health and care leadership and develop a regional and national reputation for shaping digitally led healthcare.

Our organisation is rapidly changing with a new strategy launching in June, plans for a new Leighton Hospital, a new Victoria Infirmary, two integrated care partnerships and an ambitious Digital Strategy starting with the procurement of a Digital Clinical System which is concluding now.

Our vision is to continue to deliver high quality, safe and sustainable health, care and wellbeing services to the local population of East, Central and West Cheshire and beyond. Our approach to healthcare is based on our four strategic objectives – Providing the safest and best care, becoming a leading and sustainable health and care system, being the best place to work and pushing boundaries in clinical, digital and technological innovation.

Working in a growing team of 4500+ professional and support staff who together strive to keep people well and support their wellbeing is an exciting prospect, and with an organisation that focuses on making itself the best place to work you can make Mid Cheshire NHS FT the place that you can be your best.
