Occupational Therapist

Band 5 rotational position

Full time – 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Sunday (including Bank Holidays)

The University Hospitals of Leicester, Occupational Therapy Service are excited to offer the opportunity to join our extensive Band 5 rotation.

Working as a Band 5 in UHL, you will have the opportunity to rotate across a range of diverse specialties in this large acute teaching Trust.

We offer opportunities in specialities including acute medicine, emergency department, reablement ward, stroke (acute, rehab and early supported discharge), neurology ward, Brain Injury Unit, Neuro Rehab Unit, cardio respiratory, trauma, elective orthopaedics, surgery, renal, oncology and paediatrics.

Rotational posts are of six month duration. You will have the opportunity to work on each of the three hospital sites (Leicester General Hospital, Leicester Royal Infirmary and Glenfield Hospital).

You will be responsible for managing your own caseload, carrying out functional assessments, treatments and interventions to facilitate safe and effective discharges.

You will demonstrate excellent communication and time management skills, be able to work on your own and as part of a team.

You will receive regular supervision, appraisal and will benefit from a comprehensive induction and preceptorship package.

The OT service has over 120 staff in total, comprising support staff grades, highly skilled senior therapists and clinical specialists and an established therapy management team.

UHL Therapy service is passionate about research and the professional development of our staff. All staff are encouraged to participate in our local in-service training sessions and are expected to take an active role in their own continuous professional development.
