The BRC brings together the work of Respiratory Medicine, Cardiovascular Science, Diet, Lifestyle and Physical Activity.

Northamptonshire Community Stroke team (CST) is a regionally and nationally acclaimed service with an excellent delivery record and patient feedback. Northampton General Hospital stroke service is dynamic and highly rated and is one of the designated centres in the East Midlands to provide hyper-acute care. Our community stroke service continues to develop and expand and we currently have a vacancy for a highly motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work in the county

We are currently one of the NHSEngland Pilot sites for delivery of a fully integrated Community Stroke service

You will work as part of an established multidisciplinary team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Nurses, Rehabilitation assistants and practitioners, providing therapeutic interventions to patients following stroke. You will possess recognized stroke skills and will be confident to provide goal and evidence based rehabilitation in a variety of ways to our patients.

You will have the ability to work on your own initiative and on your own in patient’s homes, yet thrive on working as a valued member of a multi-disciplinary team. You will possess excellent interpersonal skills and approach your work with energy and enthusiasm. Excellent communication skills and motivation to make a positive change to the quality of life of our local stroke survivors is essential. Experience of delegating programmes to and training support staff will be valuable as will previous community experience. The ability to adapt to virtual working will also be a valuable asset in the current climate

We provide a countywide seven day service. Therefore being a car user and driver is required. There are two community bases; one at Northampton General Hospital and one at Isebrook Hospital, Wellingborough and staff are required to work flexibly across the county. We are now working in 6 locality teams and the initial location of this role can be discussed further at interview
