Due to retirement, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Serious Non-Specific Symptoms Rapid Diagnostic Centre (RDC SNSS) multidisciplinary team at Friarage Hospital, Northallerton. The SNSS RDC provides a 2 week-wait pathway for patients with suspected cancer. The RDC provides a service to GPs across the whole of the South Tees population area (Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland plus Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby) for patients presenting with vague, but potentially serious, symptoms that may be related to cancer. We also have a pathway for patients presenting to the Emergency Department, Urgent Treatment Centres, Same Day Emergency Care, in-patient wards and / or through colleagues in other cancer pathways. The aim of the pathway is to improve early cancer diagnosis and treatment through rapid clinical and diagnostic assessment.

You will be required to provide information and support for patients throughout the diagnostic process. You will work closely with clinical and medical colleagues to ensure patients are seen and assessed in a timely manner, and the service is compliant with the 28 day Faster Diagnosis Standard.

You will work with the RDC Advanced Nurse Practitioner, existing multidisciplinary team and with specialty colleagues across the Trust to ensure patients are supported throughout their journey. You will be committed to the development of the service and able to demonstrate evidence of ongoing professional and academic development.

You will have a first level registration with the NMC and be able to evidence the ability to work at a level 7. A recognised teaching qualification and advanced communications are pre-requisites for this post. You must be able to work autonomously as well as in our multidisciplinary team, organise your workload effectively and support change at a local level.
