NHS Doncaster CCG is looking for a Gypsy and Traveller Link Worker to help improve the health and well-being of our Gypsy and Traveller communities in Doncaster.

Estimates have identified there are between 4,000 – 6,000 Gypsies and Travellers living in the Doncaster area. We know health outcomes are currently not what they should be for members of these communities, and this post will play a significant role in identifying solutions to improve the health and well-being of Gypsies and Travellers across our health and care system in Doncaster.

We are looking for someone with excellent knowledge of the health inequalities and barriers faced by members of our Gypsy and Traveller communities, combined with the relevant skills and attitude to engage and advocate for change. In particular, we are looking for someone with excellent partnership and collaborative working skills and a track record in engaging with seldom heard and often ignored communities

This is an interesting and varied job role and your duties will include:

• Leading engagement with our Gypsy and Traveller communities

• Working with specialist engagement colleagues to develop and implement best practice

• Identify what works and build capacity within our system to deliver change

• Provide advice and support to managers and colleagues across the Doncaster health and care system

• Working with colleagues to increase GP and dentist registrations from members of these communities

• Support uptake of vaccines by these groups

• Feedback progress to our Gypsy and Traveller communities

• Ensure effective and efficient processes are in place regarding Equality Impact Assessments
