Band 6 Orthoptist 1.0WTE 37.5 fixed term for 12/12 period

We welcome applications for a full time band 6 Orthoptist post for a 12 month fixed term position commencing as soon as possible.

This post gives an excellent opportunity for a qualified Orthoptist to join this large and very busy department of 18 Orthoptists, 1 ECLO and 3 Visual Fields Technicians.

You will be a member of a dynamic team consisting of both recently qualified colleagues as well as those with many years of clinical experience.

The Ophthalmology Department has 14 Consultants including a Paediatric Ophthalmology Specialist.

The scope of the Orthoptic Department is the provision of service across two sites- the main acute hospital at Coventry and a satellite hospital at Rugby. There is also an extensive community Orthoptic service which covers Coventry, Rugby and North Warwickshire.

Depending upon experience, the post will cover a wide range of Orthoptic practice. In addition to core activity, this includes input into paediatric and adult ocular motility services and Orthoptic adult & paediatric casualty patients. There is orthoptic involvement in taking non mydriatic fundus photographs and adjustable measurements in theatre, stroke, special schools, school screening and pre -school screening (some of which is single handed working), biometry and Goldmann & Humphrey field testing. There may also be the opportunity to observe/work within a new anterior segment /uveitis service.

Training will be given where necessary to meet the needs of service delivery.
