Reporting to the Head of Operations - EPRR and Specialist Practice, this is the senior, high profile local leader for the Trust. The Deputy Head of EPRR & Specialist Practice is the local ‘face of SWASFT’ and is the senior role model for the service line. The Deputy Head of EPRR & Specialist Practice will provide strong leadership in an open, supportive culture, will shape and set priorities and objectives and be accountable for all aspects of specialist practice business. The Deputy Head of EPRR & Specialist Practice has line management responsibility and accountability for the EPRR Managers, HART Managers and Specialist Practice Manager’s and is responsible for the health and wellbeing of all staff working in the in the service line.

The Deputy Head of EPRR & Specialist Practice will provide the Head of Operations - EPRR and Specialist Practice with support, acting with integrity and professionalism at all times. The Deputy Head of EPRR & Specialist Practice is a full member of the EPRR senior management team and as such will be expected to participate fully and constructively in all aspects of the departments business. This will include assisting in making decisions that impact on the wider Operations Directorate and Trust.

The Deputy Head of EPRR & Specialist Practice will be expected to work closely with EPRR and Specialist Practice colleagues to reduce variation, improve performance and introduce best practice across the EPRR & Specialist Practice and Operations Directorate.


To be responsible and accountable for the delivery and maintenance of compliance against the National EPRR Core standards and National Interoperable Capability standards for the CBRNe, Command and Control, Hazardous Area Response Teams (HART), MTA and Mass Casualty as defined by NHS England Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response framework and support the Head of Operations – EPRR & Specialist Practice with achieving and maintain compliance in all areas.
