Bioinformatician - Fixed Term 1 Year

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Bioinformatician to join the Centre for Clinical Infection & Diagnostics Research (CIDR) team helping to translate rapid genetic sequencing technologies into service to improve antimicrobial stewardship and infection control in hospitals. CIDR have a particular current focus evaluating nanopore technologies for metagenomics and SARS-CoV2 & influenza sequencing to support antimicrobial treatment and clinical pathway decisions and infection control

The post-holder will be expected to have interest and ideally experience working in a diagnostic laboratory or clinical facing translational research laboratory alongside research and clinical scientists. They will work on large academic acute hospital site as part of a highly multidisciplinary environment comprising clinical researchers, consultant and trainee microbiologists and infectious diseases doctors, infection control and research nurses, post-doctoral fellows, PhD students, clinical scientists, biomedical scientists and laboratory managers.

The post-holder will take the lead for bioinformatics across this group providing leadership, technology implementation and quality assurance, advice & training for other members of CIDR and clinical academic team. They will be part of the CIDR core leadership group.
