Specialty Doctor in Forensic Psychiatry

Full Time / 10 PAs per week

Pay scale - Specialty Doctor

Join Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust as a valued Specialty Doctor in a multi-disciplinary team providing medical input into the Forensic Directorate of the Foundation Trust. The post is based at St Georges hospital Stafford, covering both Ellesemere low secure unit and the Hatherton centre, medium secure unit. This is a permanent contract however we are a flexible service and would be willing to discussion other preferences with you.

The Post

This post provides specialist psychiatric medical support to two inpatient teams: Newport House (Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit within the medium secure unit) and Ellesmere House (low secure learning disability unit).

The Hatherton Centre has the benefit of a rotational CT3 training post and up to three senior trainees in forensic psychiatry. The clinical teams based on Newport House and Ellesmere House are further supported by nurse practitioners who provide physical health as well as psychiatric care under the supervision of postholder and consultant psychiatrist. The unit hosts a weekly GP primary care clinic. The service is further supported by a primary care advanced nurse practitioner and staff trained in phlebotomy and undertaking ECGs.

The post holder will be provided with office space and access to a computer.

Clinical supervision will be provided by the consultants for Ellesmere and Newport.

Secretarial support is available at Marston House.
