The OT Service at Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust based at St.

Richard's Hospital Chichester are currently seeking a full or part

time job share B6 Occupational Therapist to work in our General

Medical Team, to  include weekend cover as required. This is a 12

month short term contract or could be a secondment for an internal

candidate.  If you would like the opportunity to work flexibly in this busy and stimulating

environment, this would be the perfect job for you.

 

As part of the OT Department you will work alongside  B7, B6, B5, B4

and OT support staff to complete timely assessments and interventions,

 demonstrating sound clinical reasoning, a high level of autonomy and

the ability to make decisions around the safest and most appropriate

discharge destination.  You will also work collaboratively with

Doctors, Nurses to help identify those who need further medical

assessment and intervention, and link in with Community Services

regarding ongoing assessment and care.

 

The Gen Med team shares close links with  other inpatient teams

 including A&E, Neurology and Orthopaedics. We  cover a variety of

medical and elderly wards and conditions, including cardiology,

respiratory, gastroenterology, vascular, frailty, dementia and falls,

 and our staff are  instrumental in palliative care to support people

being fast tracked home. We also staff the Emergency floor which is a

 rapid turnaround ward to avoid unnecessary admission.

 

Previous experience of in-patient general medical wards is essential

and experience of admission avoidance is highly desirable, but you 

 will be provided with support and opportunities to develop your

knowledge and confidence.

 

You will work with OT support staff and you will be responsible for

their daily work and will gain experience of supervising other staff

and students.
