Principal Genetic Counsellor - Band 8A, 1.0WTE, Permanent

We are inviting applications for a Principal Genetic Counsellor post to work across our General and Cancer Genetics teams. We are looking for a well-grounded individual who can work within our current organisational structure to support the Consultant and Principal Genetic Counsellors. The post holder will be responsible for a team of genetic counselling colleagues and provide line management to them. These posts would be suited to registered genetic counsellors that are able to undertake a high volume case load whilst role modelling high standards of practice and investing in their personal and professional development. It is envisaged that the post holders will actively contribute to the professional development of our growing team of trainee and pre-registration genetic counsellors. This is an opportunity to work within a leading genetic counselling team and clinical genetics service in a fast paced but supported environment and would suit individuals that are dynamic, committed and value working in a cohesive and high calibre team to further develop their clinical and leadership skills.

Applications from candidates that can demonstrate working at a Principal level according to the AGNC career structure or have transferrable skills to match these are welcome to discuss their applications.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require current Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the current Resident Labour Market Test which will be in place until the end of December 2020. UK Visas and Immigration requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, have had to present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) are also subject to this requirement.
