An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen to join our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) as a Band 7 Clinical Skills Facilitator. If you are able to demonstrate from your previous roles and experience your passion for clinical education and learning and have a desire to shape and develop our workforce, then this is your ideal role.

We welcome applications from motivated and dedicated PICU Nurses with an interest in education and training and a broad range of clinical skills, knowledge and experience within Paediatric Congenital Heart Surgery and PICU. You must be prepared to embrace and develop our workforce to make you a credible educational practitioner and resource and engage individuals and teams in promoting learning and change within the clinical environment.

You will be responsible for facilitating the clinical skills and knowledge development of our new and existing PICU Nursing staff by implementing structured and competency based programmes and teaching using classroom teaching, bedside supervision and simulation training.

Candidates should understand the national and local recruitment and retention issues within the clinical workforce and how education will positively support these as well as demonstrating the positive outcomes for patients.

The post will require the individual to work both independently and collaboratively with other education teams and clinical skills facilitators and to coordinate and deliver both development activities and mandatory and essential to role training. There is requirement to undertake a minimum amount of clinical shifts in order to maintain competence and clinical credibility.

The post holder will be based at Glenfield Hospital until the service re-locates to new facilities at the Leicester Royal Infirmary in April 2021 but travel across all sites will be expected.
